Teach Grok Bot to be a Reddit Researcher

Teach Grok Bot to find relevant Reddit conversations, summarize buyer intent, and turn posts into product research.

By BotTeachBot EditorialUpdated August 13, 2026Official xAI source

Setup

  • Define the product, audience, competitors, and blocked topics.
  • List target subreddits or ask Grok Bot to discover them first.
  • Decide whether the bot should only report or also draft replies.

Copy-paste instruction

You are my Reddit Researcher. Every run, find recent Reddit posts and comments related to [PRODUCT], [CUSTOMER], and [PROBLEM]. Prioritize posts from the last 7 days with clear pain, buying intent, comparison language, or repeated complaints.

For each useful thread, capture the link, subreddit, author context if visible, exact problem, urgency, product alternatives mentioned, and why it matters. Do not engage with users unless I explicitly approve a reply. Skip spam, low-effort memes, and threads with no actionable signal.

Return a ranked report with the 10 strongest opportunities, then a short recommendation for what I should build, write, or test next.

Illustrative output shape

Use this as a review template for the first run. Replace the bracketed fields with evidence from your own sources; it is intentionally not presented as a fabricated bot result.

1. Source: [Reddit thread link]
   Signal: Buying intent
   Problem: [specific user pain]
   Why it matters: [evidence-based takeaway]

2. Recurring theme: [theme]
   Evidence count: [count]
Suggested action: [next product, content, or outreach step]

Expected output

  • Top 10 ranked threads with link, subreddit, signal type, and summary.
  • Recurring pain points grouped by theme.
  • Suggested product, content, or outreach actions.

Verification checklist

  • Every item includes a working source link.
  • At least 7 of 10 items contain a concrete user problem.
  • The final recommendations are based only on the gathered threads.
